The Comic
Vulpes is a good old fashioned adventure story inspired by many of my childhood favorites, such as Watership Down, Animals of Farthing Wood.
The story is set in Jutland, Denmark and focuses on two fox brothers, Taig and Hvid, as they leave home and discover the wider world. As they journey across the country they will have many adventures, try to dodge dangers and make some friends along the way.
Will they survive their perilous journey, and what was Taig's real reason for leaving? You'll have to read the comic to find out!
The comics unique style is created through a mix of traditional and digital media. The pages are all hand-drawn and inked on paper before being scanned and colored in Photoshop. Having never made a comic before it's still somewhat rough, although part of that is intentional! As I continue I hope the artwork will continue to improve and become more consistent.
Currently the comic is being split into two (possibly three) parts. Eventually I plan to split those parts into more manageable chapters, but for now I'm focusing on getting the story down.

The Artist
My name is Onyx Stewart, 25 and living in the UK.
Drawing has always been a passion of mine, and I've also always enjoyed making up stories in my head, but I never thought of combining the two until recently. Although I'm still new to the comic making process I'm finding it very enjoyable and interesting. I love that it challenges me artistically.
My other big passion is wildlife, particularly foxes. In recent years I've starting watching and photographing local fox families, and have found them to be fascinating creatures. Foxes are sadly very misunderstood by the general public, and misrepresented as dangerous vermin, but they are nothing of the sort. Having spent so much time around these amazing creatures it's my hope that someday we'll have a better understanding of them.

Above are Donna and Big Dog, this first foxes I really started watching. They've taught me so much and really helped spur my passion for these curious little canids. In a way they, along with the other foxes I watch were a big inspiration for this comic. Much of the things I've learned about the behavior will be incorporated into the comic to give a more realistic representation of foxes.
